Intersection O/D Counts
New Origin Destination (O/D) Counts Event is available in intuVision VA Traffic module. O/D Counts event captures all turning movements at an intersection or rotary using a single configuration. After each leg of the intersection or rotary is labeled with entry and exit points marked, intuVision VA automatically tracks and counts vehicles traveling through them, grouped by Origin/Destination.

intuVision Intersection O/D Counts Event
Understanding how vehicles move through an intersection or rotary is essential for effective traffic planning. With intuVision VA's new Intersection event, generating an accurate Origin/Destination (O/D) matrix becomes an automated process, eliminating hours of tedious work. With easy setup, automated tracking, and accurate counts, intuVision VA Traffic provides a powerful solution for capturing Origin/Destination counts at intersections and rotaries - delivering the actionable insights needed for congestion analysis, traffic design evaluation, and long-term planning.
intuVision VA Traffic continuously monitors vehicles as they enter and exit an intersection or rotary, identifying both their approach and departure leg. Every turning movement is recorded in real time - for example, a vehicle traveling from the East approach to the South exit. As the video stream is processed, complete turn-count data is collected and organized, forming the foundation for an accurate O/D matrix.
Configuration is straightforward using the Intersection Event: Each leg of the intersection or rotary is labeled, entry and exit points are marked through the intuitive user interface, creating a visual map that defines how vehicle movements are tracked between approaches. Once configured, the system immediately begins monitoring traffic and counting vehicles according to their full origin-destination paths.
Live update of counts allows users to monitor turning movements in real time as vehicles travel through the intersection. Whether conducting a traffic study, validating signal timing, or verifying field conditions, intuVision O/D counts data is always current and accessible. Results can be displayed in tables or easy-to-interpret graphs, supporting both quick analysis and formal reporting.
For further analysis, intuVision VA supports exporting count data in CSV format for use in third-party spreadsheet, modeling, or dashboard applications. With a single click, turn counts can be transferred into existing engineering workflows, where generating an O/D matrix or incorporating the data into traffic models becomes seamless.
