People familiar with video analytics are familiar with smart people counters, such as intuVision VA Retail. Video based people counters were developed to replace hardware solutions that were expensive and often inaccurate. As video becomes cheaper and computers faster, the move is towards video analytics to collect this data and provide it to retail stores.
While people counting is an established use for video analytics, last year, we received a request to count fish as part of a research project in Canada. Our analytics are uniquely adaptable, putting us in the perfect position to meet this custom post-processing requirement.
The customer came to us through their Exacq Dealer, and needed a solution to rapidly process the fish data collected during the summer for a series of reports they were generating on shifting migration habits and numbers in different species of salmon.
With our faster-than-real-time processing, we were able to process all of the collected data in under a week, allowing them to meet their deadline. Custom classification types were easily trainable through intuVision VA, allowing them to filter out different types of objects seen in the waterway.
